WHY THE TIMING OF THE KISS MAKES OR BREAKS THE PHOTO

Ever seen a friends wedding photos where the kiss photos just doesn’t cut it? 

Essentially it is a photo of a bride and groom kissing, so what’s the big deal, how can you get that wrong? 

It’s actually pretty easy to stuff it up guys, so I will break it down for you. 

This photo was taken at Eight Willows Retreat in Margaret River, it’s an amazing venue for weddings. The scenery and locations for photos are spectacular. 

After the family photos were all taken care of I took James and Katie for a walk to some of my favourite spots just when the light was perfect for photos. 

I love the lake at Eight Willows Retreat, the sun dips down behind the tree line and you get some lovely soft warm colours to play with. 

This photo shows a simple kiss shot. I asked James and Katie to kiss for a photo and they pretty much did what most couples would do, kiss. The results were ok but they did not have that spark or magic that shows their connection. 

I then gave them some really simple direction on timing and what I was particularly wanting to capture and straight away they nailed it. 

I think this photo has some chemistry and little hint to those classic movie kisses that we all love to watch, especially when you are curled up own the sofa with some chocolates. 

A lot of what I do is actually very simple. I look for fantastic scenes on a wedding property. I then work out when the light will be at it’s best and then I direct you into that scene. Only if I really need to, I will direct you some more to get an even better shot.
