Contos Beach Elopements.
Very pretty beaches with beautiful rock formations, this beach is further south than Redgate and about a twenty five minute drive from Margaret River town. This beach is next to Lake Cave and also Boranup Forest.

What are elopements?
Elopements are when just the two of you get hitched, sure you can invite close family and friends attend. Or announce your news after and throw a massive party when you get home. The very nature of elopements is that anything is cool, it’s your life after all. If the idea of going massively into debt, throwing a big wedding to keep everyone happy isn’t sitting right with you then don’t do it.
The legal facts to know with elopements
Elopements have that impulsive spur of the moment vibe about them but here are some essential legal requirements you should understand when planning your elopement
You must fill out your notice of intended marriage form
Give your notice of intended marriage form to your marriage celebrant one month prior to your before your wedding but no greater than eighteen months prior
You can’t already be married
You can’t marry family, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister
You need to have an understanding of what marriage means
You have to eighteen years old or older, unless a court has approved otherwise
An authorised marriage celebrant must marry you
You don’t have to a an Australian citizen or permanent resident to marry in Australia
Do elopements in Australia have to be in a church?
In Australia elopements are permitted anywhere you’d like, this includes public land. This is what I love and find so exciting about elopements, anything is possible, you could get married during a helicopter ride with me snapping away in the front passenger seat or we could organise your marriage in part of the Cape to Cape trek with amazing ocean views and a sense of real adventure.

Before you jump on a plane to elope, there are some legal loose ends to tie up first

In some countries you have to lodge an intent to marry three months prior to your wedding, Ireland is one popular destination that requires three months notice.
In Western Australia you need to get a Certificate of No Impediment (CNI) to Marriage
Elopements overseas requires you to pay $148 AUD for your certificate after you have completed the paperwork all in the link above
Next up you need to contact the country you intend to be married in and complete their paperwork. This varies from country to country. Easy way to get some info is to contact some local wedding planners.
Source a local celebrant for your overseas elopement. They will have all the local expertise to marry you.

How much time to allow for planning elopements
Elopements can be planned as quickly as the four weeks after you have filled out your notice of intended marriage form and supplied it to your marriage celebrant. Or you might prefer to spend six months to a year planning your elopement.
I guess it boils down to whether you have decided to get married and you’d like to get your ceremony done without the fuss. If this is the case it’s going to be a fairly low key simple elopement without tons of planning. You can still plan it to be somewhere you love to visit and unwind and you can treat yourself to a couple of nights of luxury, enjoying beautiful food and wine.
Elopements that are adventurous and involve experiences will take longer to put together but it doesn’t need to be ages. I have my list of awesome adventure experiences for elopements and it’s an easy process of choosing what you like the sound of and booking them in.

Do elopements require a witness?
Elopements require two witnesses. Your marriage certificate requires two signatures stating that you have witnessed the marriage and it is real.
The cool thing is that as your photographer I will be there to witness your ceremony so I can be one witness and then your make up artist might fancy hanging around for twenty minutes to watch and be your other witness.
Legal age for eloping?
To elope and be legally married you must be eighteen years or older. Unless you can get an Australian court of law to grant you an exemption to be married at a younger age.
Announcing to the world that you plan to elope
Big one! This can make people feel anxious as to the reaction they will receive for sure. Mostly the reaction of your parents and close friends are what matters most. Try to remember that their initial reaction of “shock horror” is them starting the process of adjusting their expectations of what they had thought would play out, ie; BIG WEDDING!
This initial reaction will soften with some good chats, involvement in planning and the carrot of a kick ass party to get excited about.
The party can be your way of allowing everyone to feel a part of your exciting news and celebrating with you. Theres plenty for the planners in the family and friends circle to get excited about with throwing a party.

If you would like to plan your own elopement timeline is quite simple, start where you want photography to end and work backwards for the duration of coverage that you have booked with your photographer.
The end time varies depending on the location, weather, time of year and your personal thoughts on how you want your elopement day to run.
Elopement packages are better because the team of vendors communicate in the creation of your timeline and can adjust the timings easily according to the weather predicted for your elopement.
