South West wedding photographers
South West wedding photographers who live in the Margaret River wine region including Dunsborough, Yallingup and Busselton have a far greater knowledge and understanding of working in the area. If you are planning your wedding from Perth, interstate or overseas, this level of expertise will help you to avoid common mistakes that people make when planning your wedding day.
Local expertise of South West Wedding Photographers.
There is no doubt that each time a photographer works at a beach resort, winery or garden wedding location they improve. Creative visual people refine their processes by photographing and then editing. While editing you learn that something works, needs a tweak or just didn’t go as expected. This could be a compositional element, evaluating natural or artificial lighting, or involving a very creative technique.
South West Wedding Photographers knowledge of unique photo locations.
Living in the south west means that you are always building a knowledge of the area that can be utilised at weddings. Surf trips take us to unique hidden beaches, adventures with my family leads to little discoveries like finding cute rustic farm buildings in Yallingup or a pretty stretch of forest near Dunsborough.
Experience photographing weddings in unpredictable South West weather.
The weather can be changeable in the south west. On the week of your wedding I always check the weather forecasts that the local farmers use which is far more accurate and gives by the hour weather predictions. If your wedding day is going to have a howling south wester wind and you have always wanted beach photos, I can recommend beaches that are sheltered from South West winds for instance.
This applies to forests, rustic farm scenes, wineries and just about anything in the south west. Living down south I find that I have a vast knowledge of awesome photo locations in Margaret River, Yallingup, Dunsborough and Busselton.
5 reasons why South West Wedding Photographers are EXPERTS IN SOUTH WEST weddingS.
Local understanding of the region is an invaluable resource that you can utilise to ask literally any question. It doesn’t have to be wedding related but just having a local go to person, will make your life so much easier, when planning your wedding down south.
Weather down south can be un predictable and it can change dramatically. Weather forecasts will only help you so far, the general ones like B.O.M are vague and inaccurate in predicting weather in Margaret River. Knowing what the local farmers use to forecast weather has helped me so many times in the past. I can help my couples with that info in advance, whether it is to put their mind at ease or to change their ceremony plans or choose some different photo locations.
Best locations for wedding photos in the south west is so hard for a visiting photographer to know. Only someone that has lived in the area for a number of years will truly understand the best options for thew weather conditions on the day.
That could mean that due to the wind direction we need to head to this beach because it is sheltered. Or you might want beach shots without getting sandy so we need a location with epic beach views. Rocky beaches, beaches with jetty’s and beaches with forest are all options that you get to know when living here over time.
Knowing the best times to photograph a scene comes from experience and the repetition. If I photograph a location several times I refine and perfect the techniques I apply at that location. For example, the old character tree in the paddock close to Meelup Beach makes an epic photo thirty minutes before sunset, so we will get a couple of shots there before some nice sunset shots on Meelup Beach. This tree isn’t coming up on “Best Photo Locations South West” Google Search, it’s just a tree that I have seen and photographed that I know looks wicked in wedding photos.
